Girl Child

11 October, is the International Day of the Girl Child, as declared by the UN.

Both the boy and girl child are crucial for the progress of the family and the nation, they are the two wheels without which going onward is not possible.

Tiny hands clutching on to that purse,

Baby lips coloured dark red along with chubby cheeks.

Colourful bangles looking magnificent on small wrists,

Body covered haphazardly in a sari.

Soft toys decorated alongside the bed,

Messed up room with accessories scattered on the floor.

With frequent glances on the mirror,

Innocent eyes smiled with no regrets.

As the parents entered,

Million reflections flooded through the room.

Left her for few minutes alone,

created a mountain of memories for Mom.
